Tucked away just steps from the river path in downtown Calgary, Hidden Corner Café is a true gem for anyone who loves matcha, Japanese-inspired treats, and cozy café vibes. If you haven’t wandered into this charming spot yet, let us be the first to tell you—it’s worth the visit.

Drinks to Try

We stopped by recently and were seriously impressed by the variety on the menu. We kicked things off with the Strawberry Matcha, and wow—it was everything. Light, fresh, and perfectly balanced, it had just the right amount of sweetness without being overpowering. Think fresh berries and earthy matcha in total harmony.

Next up was something a little different: the Einspanner Matcha. This unique drink combines the earthy richness of matcha with a shot of espresso and a thick layer of vanilla cold foam on top. It’s smooth, complex, and one of the most interesting fusion drinks we’ve tried in the city. Definitely a must-try for matcha and coffee lovers alike.

Food to Try

We couldn’t resist their baked goods, either. The Red Bean Matcha Muffin was moist, sweet, and super satisfying, but the standout for us was the White Chocolate Almond Matcha Muffin. Soft, rich, and subtly sweet—these Japanese-style muffins are such a fun twist on your usual coffee shop fare.

And of course, no trip to a cute café is complete without dessert. We sampled the Strawberry Cheesecake, and it didn’t disappoint. Creamy, fruity, and not overly heavy—just the way we like it.
