There’s something special about spring mornings in Inglewood — charming streets, local shops, and the promise of a slow, cozy start to your day. Whether you're a local looking to explore your neighborhood or visiting Calgary for the weekend, Inglewood offers the perfect balance of food, shopping, and nature to help you unwind and soak in the season.
Stop One – Canela Vegan Bakery
Looking for a delicious vegan spot in the heart of Calgary? Say hello to Canela, a cozy plant-based bakery and café located right in the charming neighbourhood of Inglewood. Whether you're vegan or just love a good pastry, this spot is a must-visit on your café bucket list.

Everything we tried at Canela was an absolute 10/10. We started off with drinks—aneeed wow. From the Ube Iced Lavender Chai, to the Strawberry Matcha, to the dreamy Ube Horchata—each one was creamy, flavourful, and completely dairy-free. One of the best parts of visiting a vegan café? No extra charge for oat milk!
The pastries at Canela deserve their own spotlight. We couldn’t resist the Almond Croissant, Fruit Tart, Chocolate Croissant, and Pop Tart—and we were genuinely shocked that they were all fully vegan. The textures were buttery and rich, and the flavours absolutely nailed it. You won’t miss the dairy, we promise.

Step Three - Recordland
If you're a music lover in Calgary, Recordland in Inglewood is the place to be. As one of the largest and most legendary record stores in the city, this spot is packed wall-to-wall with musical treasures just waiting to be discovered.

With thousands of vinyl records and CDs lining the shelves, Recordland is a paradise for collectors and casual listeners alike. Whether you're searching for that rare pressing of a classic album, some nostalgic 90s CDs, or just exploring something new, you'll be blown away by the sheer variety.
Their collection spans all genres—from pop, country, and rock to jazz, classical, soul, and hip-hop. And yes, they even carry those elusive vinyls that are almost impossible to find elsewhere. It’s easy to lose track of time as you flip through crates and uncover hidden gems.

Stop Four - Monki Bistro
Tucked right into the heart of Inglewood, Monki Bistro is a local favorite that definitely lived up to the hype. We dove into three dishes during our visit:

The Elvis French Toast: This was hands down the star of the show — fluffy, sweet, and topped with peanut butter, banana, and bacon. It’s indulgent in the best way.
Brisket Tacos: These were just okay — decent flavor but didn’t quite hit the same high notes as the rest of the menu.
Halloumi Eggs Benny: Savory, satisfying, and full of texture. The halloumi was nicely grilled and paired well with the poached eggs and hollandaise.
The vibe inside Monki is relaxed and welcoming, making it a great place to linger over coffee and enjoy the slow pace of a weekend morning.

Stop Five - Inglewood Bird Sanctuary

After brunch, we headed to the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary — one of Calgary’s most underrated gems. This natural oasis just minutes from downtown offers over 36 hectares of lush habitat and peaceful walking trails along the Bow River.
Our visit was pure spring magic: we spotted a deer grazing near the trees and even caught a glimpse of a muskrat swimming through the water. The sanctuary is home to more than 270 species of birds and countless other wildlife, making every visit unique. It’s a beautiful place to unwind, breathe in the fresh air, and connect with nature right in the city.
